bitcoin mining boards as linux-based routers?

I believe in the past dedicated routing hardware outperformed a typical server configured to work as a router because of a server's lack of an ASIC chip. I'm not sure if that has changed at all in the (many) years since I've last looked into it.
Now that there are mobos dedicated to bitcoin mining with ASIC chips, would that performance hit still exist assuming that there are drivers available for the host OS? If so, any idea how much of a performance hit?
Unless there is some big advantage I'm not realistically planning on doing this.. This was mostly a "shower thought" I had and I need to scratch that itch. :-) A quick search didn't turn up much info with regards to mining boards used in that way.
Anyone have any thoughts?

[WTS] 2x 40Gh/s Technobit S-hash bitcoin mining boards, chips, heatsink/fan & power adapter included.

I have 2x Technobit S-hash 40 GH/s Bitfury 16 chip mining boards for sale. These are no longer in production.
Mint condition. Includes 16 chips per board, heatsink, and fan in perfect condition. Even has the latest firmware loaded. Its literally plug in and start hashing at any of the 4 pools you can enter. They're rated at ~40Gh/s each, so you'll be getting ~78Gh/s-82Gh/s overall.
These are fully functional units that run very cool and probably have room to overclock slightly, you just plug in the power supply (which I had to pay for myself because the seller didn't state they weren't included....jerk), plug in the Ethernet cord to modem/router, which I'll throw in as well because I have so many extra cables. These are all self contained, no external CPU/rPi required.
These units have a four week handling time from technobit.eu. So best bet of receiving one now is in mid-January.
Pictures available upon request. I'd prefer to sell them both at once. BTC payment only, we can use BTCrow, but you pay the fees, I have no interest in scamming, I believe in karma, even though I've gotten scammed before.
My eBay feedback is below, which includes previous miner sales.
eBay Seller Profile
I am asking 2 BTC for the pair, OBO (keep it reasonable, please BTC price has been crazy this week. This includes Overnight Shipping from NYC (USA only), the 2 power adapters, and the 2 extra LAN cables, as well as any technical support regarding initial setup from me once it arrives. (Signature required upon delivery)
Local meetup in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens and I'll make it an even 1.8 BTC.
No refunds, sorry, but I can do my best to help you troubleshoot the issue, although these have NEVER given me a problem.
PM me for more details, I am selling these to go see a doctor for this shitty scoliosis problem that has gotten worse this year. (no insurance)
Stock photo for now
Thanks!

Reprogram bitcoin mining boards?

Anybody know how hard it would be to repurpose the (relatively) cheap high-capacity bitcoin mining boards on ebay to general-purpose FPGA experimentation? I'm interested doing some DSP-like things with them (assuming they're small enough that the free toolsets still work with them.)

Best Dedicated Folding@Home motherboard?

So I've been looking into building a dedicated 24/7 Folding@Home PC to be running even after this whole pandemic. I've been into Folding much before this whole fiasco started, including other similar projects such as Seti@Home, Asteroids@Home and ect.
All I have been doing is using my gaming PC to run when I'm not using it. But I would like to build a dedicated system with 4 Radeon RX 560's running 24/7. But the problem is, which motherboard do I even use? I'm not looking to spend $300 on a 4 pciE 16x slot motherboard, and I can't use one of those bitcoin mining boards with a bunch of 1x pciE slots since Folding@Home likes at least 4x slots.
Anyone have any insight on which motherboard to choose?
I was looking at the BIOSTAR TB250-BTC D+. Would this be possible to use for Folding?
Thanks!

REPAIR HELP: Burnt out ASIC boards

I have two ASIC bitcoin mining boards that have burnt out (literally). Not sure if this is the right sub to post in, but any suggestions on where I could get them fixed would be greatly appreciated. People have recommended I try doing it myself with a soldering iron, but I would probably make it worse. (Pic below) https://imgur.com/TCaVfIV

Bitcoin mining is the process of adding transaction records to Bitcoin's public ledger of past transactions or blockchain. This ledger of past transactions is called the block chain as it is a chain of blocks. The block chain serves to confirm transactions to the rest of the network as having taken place. Bitcoin mining is done by private computers. The role of miners is to secure the network and process each Bitcoin. Miners do this by solving a calculation problem that allows them to assemble the transaction blocks (hence bitcoin's famous blockchain). Miners for this service are rewarded with newly created Bitcoins and transaction fees. Bitcoin Mining Hardware Guide The best Bitcoin mining hardware has evolved dramatically since 2009. At first, miners used their central processing unit (CPU) to mine, but soon this wasn't fast enough and it bogged down the system resources of the host computer. Miners quickly moved on to using the graphical processing unit (GPU) in computer graphics cards because they were able to hash data 50 ...
